TCL TV Review

One of the biggest players offering affordably priced TVs with great value is TCL. Its lineup is geared towards budget consumers looking for decent performance TVs at lower prices. This newcomer came in with a big splash with their Roku Smart TVs. By far the cheapest, most inexpensive brand offering great picture quality and features that rival more highly priced brands. Most of their lineup come below $500 and offer nice features and decent performance. The TCL TVs, however, are not very bright which doesn’t make them good for very bright environments. Viewing angle performance is also not so very good so you might take those into consideration when buying a TV for a specific room.

For a simple TV that’s a perfect fit for a bedroom, the TCL S305 1080p is a great buy for the money. It has decent picture quality and has some of the best smart features available out there. The TCL S305 Series is a cost-effective choice if you’re looking for an affordable Roku TV. It’s easy to unbox and setup. And with the simple Roku UI, it is simple to use so you can enjoy your shows and movies right away.

TCL also offers a great feature-packed 4K TV with its S405|4 Series. It also comes with the Roku OS which brings all your entertainment channels in one place. It’s a great pick for gamers on a budget with its low input lag and overall picture quality.

For the best HDR TV, TCL offers the 6 Series with P607 4K TV. It combines Ultra High Definition picture quality with Dolby Vision and HDR10. With the popular Roku OS, you have access to more than 500, 000 movies and TV episodes— the widest content library available for streaming access, both free and paid. The 6 Series comes in the 55-inch and 65-inch models with full array backlighting and 96 and 120 local dimming zones, respectively- producing great picture quality with greater depth. The local dimming zone number is considerably lower than Samsung’s or even Hisense’s 1000+ zone models for their respective top-tier TVs. But if significantly priced lower than the Hisense or Samsung models, TCL may be the better choice and is a top choice in its price range.

Roku TVs in the 6 Series has the enhanced Roku TV remote with voice search function. Aside from P607 and C807 models’ remotes which have a 3.5mm TRS connector on them for plugging your earphones in for private listening and a microphone to use for the voice search function, all other TCL TV models do not have these upgrades. However, many Roku TVs will get their own digital voice assistant—called the Roku Entertainment Assistant—later this year as part of a firmware update which you can access through the Roku mobile app to be downloaded on your smartphone or tablet.

The Roku smart platform that’s built-in in TCL TVs (with the exception of the D1 Series) is an OS which rivals the very best. Although not the best, their picture quality is quite good across all models. With all the features packed in each TCL TV model, plus their lineup geared towards the budget-wise consumers, TCL is quite tough to beat. It is no wonder that TCL is the fastest growing television brand in the U.S. today.
